Nothing to post

Mon Jun 22, 2009, 7:31 PM
I have wanted to do something new. I am tired of the same thing and I am sure most of you all are too. Or at least post something new. Something filled with inspiration.

I just can't seem to find anything or even have the inspiration to pick up the camera. Is this normal?

ps something is wrong i can't edit the mood below ..

I understand it happens. Some people think it's extremely cool to have an artistic crisis, others like you genuinely worry about it, and either is pointless. I think it's very natural and even healthy, precisely because it can force you to discover new possibilities. What I'd do is:
- stop worrying about it and see it as an artistic vacation. If you've always avoided shooting kitten and roses pics and secretely liked to, go do it now. You don't have to post them, but try to be so fanatical about the technique as you can: light, sharpness, composition, try to get it as good as possible.
- go out and set yourself tasks, like shooting a good composition, or an interesting interaction of people on the street, or shoot everything red that comes you way, or shoot portraits of a few strangers with their permission (a very useful ability). Try to go for things you haven't done before or that you feel you're not good in, or simply train your 'eye' by trying to spot possibly interesting shots or things. Don't worry about being 'creative' or 'original', you're training. If something good comes out of anyway, fine.
- study. Go out to the Photo DDs and try to figure why they've been chosen, or what makes them good. Maybe borrow a book from the library about the History of Photography and do the same. Read some of the text if you're interested in certain photos. Or try to pick up some book about the photography in general and try to learn new things about light, color, composition etc. There's always something to learn and once it's truly inside your system it will help you to be more creative.
- simply go out and try to have fun with your camera. :)

I do like your pictures. Good luck!

"STREET" is great fun, but it's NOT pics of empty streets, your feet on the pavement, graffiti, traffic lights, ten poses of your girlfriend, or buildings without people. More info --> [link]

my feeling is if I can shoot photos of it (I can get the lighting needed and get it in front of my camera) then while not give it a shoot. Beyond that I try to balance out my subject manner. I feel like I have shot few protraits and been more grand in scale then tight/small in scale. So hence I been trying to shoot more protraits and photos of itsy bitsy stuff ;)

good luck
